TDs who voted for water charging and eventual privatisation
Here is the Dáil vote on the water services legislation that gave away our resources to private hands
The names in Green voted for this give away
If these TDs are in your constituency well, now you know who definitely NOT to vote for in the next election. Instead why not elect a DDI candidate and give ourselves a chance of implementing citizens’ initiated referendum so that we the people can prevent these decisions being made.
The Seanad debate is happening right now and we will see tonight if they return the Bill to the House.

Well,be honest with you,I’m not voting for some of the other either.some of them did a u-turn + I don’t trust them too.
Admin D
Well if you are voting perhaps you will vote DDI
Andy G
I still might vote DDI,.. but if it comes to a referendum to introduce water charges for mains water then I’ll vote YES!!
People can pay for services they use,… and most people on the mains can afford to do so,, and the poor get a free water allowance which is generous enough.
Andy G
I’m not saying that mains water should be handed over to some corporation,.. but it’s perfectly fair to have water charges so that those using a service are the very ones paying for it,… AS IT SHOULD BE!!!!!
The I’m-Entitleds are the real criminals who are happy to hold(or appoint someone else to hold) the gun to the head of the taxpayer in order ti fund their various entitlements as opposed to paying their own way.
Admin D
Problem is that these stealth charges are all regressive taxes, whereby everyone pays teh same tax no matter how much or how little they earn. It recreates a new poverty we haven’t seen since before the wars. It is not based on ability to pay and therefore just increases the gap between rich and poor
Andy G
No, they just like road taxes and electricity charges are direct charges for services used!!!
And, No ,.. poor people get a substantial water allowance and are only charged once they pass this,.. which is generous enough.
I’m not rich and but I didn’t expect the townies to come subsidize the drilling of my well. Also not to sound too harsh, but a lot of the financial problems faced by the poor(and too often entitled) could very often be solved to a very large extent through encouragement of more responsible spending,.. i.e don’t waste your dole on booze and fags,… don’t have a pile of kids you can’t afford etc etc.
What should be protested are forms of general taxation such as income tax, and VAT which are actual theft and don’t reflect the services people use.
Even, say a flat tax of 10% above a minimum cut-off point would be fairer than what we have now.
Cathy
Andy g you are so ill informed it is laughable. Personally in the last few months have found myself in a position where I am finding it hard to put a roof over my 3 children’s heads because we were deserted by their father. If water charges come into effect I doubt I can pay. I don’t drink and I don’t smoke so what I am getting goes on food, clothing heat, electricity and rent. Not all of the poor people in society are wasters some of us are just down on our luck. The fact is that this tax will push a lot of families (working or not) below the poverty line irregardless of what concessions are being promised.
Andy G
Deserted by the father??,.. shouldn’t he be hunted down for child support or something??!!
As for myself,.. I’m a childfree bachelor,.. not sure why I or others like me should pay someone else’s genetic legacy, be it a single mother or otherwise. Perhaps if the system pandered less to the entitled, then people might actually have kids when and if they can afford them, and of a number they can afford.
Cathy
Obviously that is exactly the route I am taking and for your information we could afford to support all 3 children, had our own well and still actually had compassion for those less fortunate. By your responses to everyone on here you are ignorant, ill informed and still quite young. I hope you wise up to the world at large as you grow up if not you would fit in well in Fg or Labor
Andy G
Having read my posts why on earth would you think I’d want to be part of FG or Labor?? For starters I don’t support forced general taxation, so i wouldn’t take a government job funded that way.
Perhaps a Libertarian party, who’s elected members waived their government salaries and pensions might be somewhat attractive,.. but fat chance of such a party getting elected in Eire the Entitled.
Seamus
Who the fuck are you to tell anyone. How to live there lives
Andy G
I don’t give a fuck how others choose to live their lives.
Who the fuck are you to hold a gun(directly or indirectly) to someone else’s head and demand they hand over their money and resources.
David
You just blamed the recession on poor people’s spending? Get out.
David
I am so infuriated by this condescending bullshit “don’t spend your dole on fags” Get a clue you idiot.
Andy G
No,.. I blame the existence of highly immoral government,, on the highly immoral people who wish to said government as a violent proxy to extract resources/money from others to pay for their entitlements.
David Nolan
What do you mean by as,it should be, because at the moment we already do, if you disagree tell me why?
Andy G
Because the many of the wrong people are paying,, i.e. those not on the water mains are still force to subsidise it through general taxation
Admin D
Then the political solution would be to have a tax rebate surely ?
Andy G
That would be reasonably acceptable,, but hardly as practical.
kevin doyle
a sad day when the will of the people is wholly disregarded
Andy G
A sad day when the I’m-Entitleds disregard the freedoms of those paying for their entitlements.
I’m not on mains water,.. so why should I or people like me be forced via taxation to subsidize people on the mains???
I never once expected the townies to pay for my well and pump, or the electricity used to run it, or the filter that needs to be change every few months. /:(
Seamus
We said noting about the grants
irish
Shame on them . Not Irish in my eyes
Andy G
Shame on you for being entitled.
People like you are more than happy to have the gun of the state held to the head of the general taxpayer just so you can have your goodies for “free”( by which I mean paid for by someone else)
Proinsias
Andy; your completely irrational anger and relentless attacking of the have nothings is tiresome to read. You have your own well, good for you )Irish Water still want control over it don’t you know) You must have a bit of land then, good for you. You possibly had a reasonable start in life? many haven’t.
Every time a person makes a purchase in Ireland; be they homeless or a financial consultant they pay tax in the form of VAT. No-one in the country refuses to pay income tax albeit riddled with disparity, should they be fortunate enough to have a good job.
The real thieves and crooks, Andy, the worst ‘entitlementers’ as well you know but refuse to rationally condemn, are our politicians pay and ‘entitlements’ past and present, that is the greatest form of welfare fraud & hand outs ever. You have fallen hook-line-and sinker for the Neo-conservative Right wing FG sponsored media inquisition against the least fortunate in society.
They have a hotline now so people with irrational hatred and vindictive suspicion can call to ‘give information’ on those they suspect of welfare fraud; just like the Nazi’s did in the 1930/40’s in Germany. Go ahead Andy, make the call and get a good nights sleep afterwards.
Andy G
I don’t support general taxation (income tax, VAT, property tax) or anything funded by it,, including politicians pay.
What I do support is direct charges for services used.
Admin D
I believe the issue is that a fair society is based on ability to pay, otherwise you would have to also value everyone labour the same whether they are a hospital consultant or a cleaner, as they are both doing the same hours and both jobs are essential cogs in the wheel. You can’t justify regressive charges without that
Andy G
@Admin D, there’s already a progressive charge on water. Poor people get a substantial allowance of free water,.. above which they pay like everyone else which is fair enough. Just like welfare it’s meant to get you by, but not allow you to live like a king at everyone else’s expense.
Seamus
Wrong again I work and pay more tax then you I bet.????

A parallel list of these TDs constituencies/wards would be a very helpful (and maybe insightful) piece of information? Anyone know if there’s one of those?
Derek Stanbridge
Dirty traitors that’s all them are sick of the Government taking everything and playing with peoples life’s sick to death of the dirt waste of tax payers money! What goes around comes around and them dirt that voted to put forward water charges, will get there come up ins ! Waste of spec the lot of them!
Andy G
Actually it’s the Entitleds(people like yourself) who are largely responsible for taxation, and waste thereof, since they insist on voting in people to steal on their behalf.
You’d hardly expect to see a real honest politician with libertarian values being voted into office any time soon in the land of entitled begrudgers.
J G
give it a rest will you! ya government cronie! nobody wants to hear your pro irishwater nonsense
Andy G
You got to be taking the piss,.. I’ve already made it abundantly clear that I oppose general taxation. Why the fuck would I then work for the government and have an income derived from taxation.
I’m not pro Irish water either,… far from it. I just want those who use a service to be the ones who fund it. Localities can sort out individually how they want to fund their water networks.
Proinsias
Now it’s anyone who posts here is responsible according to Andy! lol …. begrudgers he says! Andy you’re hilarious!
Andy G
If you vote for someone with the view that they steal on your or anyone else’s behalf then YES you are responsible for a system that imposes forced taxation on people.
The fact you think this is hilarious suggests a deeply ingrained sense of entitlement,… again hardly surprising in this country.
John N
Andy your relentless narrsisism is not good for my rage -do you work for RTE?- Your opinion has been made, nobody cares and I certainly disagree. Move on.
Popsey
You uneducated fool! What part of ‘we already pay for our water’ do you not get???? We also have an eu exemption to water charges!!!!!! Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
Mike Walsh
Why isn’t there a share option on this. This should get to everyone in the Country including those on the list to let them know we are not asleep and dumb.
Billy Regan
We will see come election day. God help us, but I fear FG/? Will get in again – maybe ff?
Tina Andreucetti (@Livelifefullon)
Andy G I hope you never have to reply on the state, good will of others or charity. Not all “poor people” waste their scant resources. The majority of them manage in ways you can only imagine. A bit of humility, awareness and empathy would improve your view of the world.

familys are losing their homes to the banks, for not being able to pay after losing their jobs which many have held for years paying tax.how are they to survive, one day someone will snap after losing everything they have worked for ,and have nothing left to live for ,and maybe take one of them responsable to the grave with them,
