Johnny Squires

Not often enough in life do we get an opportunity to meet with individuals who leave a lasting impression that impacts on those around them, our friend and colleague John (Johnny) Squires was one of those people. Late of kells Co.Meath Johnny was laid to rest yesterday Wed 06 September 2017 at St.Columba’s  Church in his home town.

It was heart warming but not unexpected to see a large turn out come to pay last respects to Johnny and support his family at this very sad time, his Wife, Children, extended family and friends shared stories about Johnny giving all in attendance an insight into what a warm gentle loving and generous man he was.

Johnny leaves behind a long lasting legacy by his generosity and kindness with helping those in need, in particular Johnny was well known for halting rogue banks and sheriffs from evicting families from their dwellings with his sidekick Ben Gilroy, However Ben Gilroy may dispute which one of them was the sidekick, but one thing we do know for sure this due travelled the length and breath of this country successfully supporting families in distress.

Those of us who knew Johnny will always share with great fondness the stories of Johnny and Ben that will give hope to others, continuing Johnny’s legacy.

We in Direct Democracy Ireland will be forever grateful for the opportunity given to us by having Johnny in our lives, he is sadly missed and will always remain in our memories.

We want to take this opportunity to thank Johnny’s Family for their hospitality extended to us yesterday.

R.I.P John (Johnny) Squires 1958-2017
