Damning figures show 20% of Youth in Ireland are out of work.

Direct Democracy Ireland is concerned at the number of young people out of work. The latest figures show that the youth unemployment rate is 20% – double that of the pre-Crisis rate of between 8% and 9% in 2008.
The number of youths on the live register is a tragic indictment as the Governments incompetence continues to exasperate the decline of opportunities for our youth. With almost 19,000 young people under the age of 25 on the live register over a year, their futures look bleak and they may be forced to emigrate, this being the preferred option of The Government. This reduces and masks their extreme level of incompetence, in carrying out their moral and legal duties to society.
What we need is development, training, and a system that allows our youth to flourish, most young people would prefer to work given a choice, as the amount they are entitled to on jobseekers is just €100 Per Week up to the age of 25, being a youth and unemployed is not an option in order to live a fulfilling and productive life.
